Denise has over 25 years experience of working in occupational therapy with children and young people with complex needs.

As an occupational therapist she has delivered occupational therapy intervention in clinics, schools, homes, and residential setting. Denise has experience of supporting EHCP’s for children in both specialist and mainstream school.

Projects Denise has worked on include:

  •  Supporting a housing project in schools looking at the impact of poor housing on educational attainment and wellbeing of children and young people.
  • Complex paediatric cases looking at risk of falls and maintaining mobility.
  • Developing roles, routines and independent living skills for a young person with an acquired brain injury.
  • Supporting a young children with severe sensory processing dysfunction • Advice and support in developing sensory spaces for children and young people.

Denise has 14 years of experience in case management working with children and families who have complex injuries in litigation. She has experience of working with litigation teams supporting rehabilitation. She has experience of working collaboratively with care agencies to deliver care to children and young people.

Denise has skills in occupational therapy assessments, risk assessment, housing needs and neuro-sensory occupational therapy. Denise is currently studying a PhD at Lancaster University, in Technology Enhanced Learning.

Her research field is focused on developing an health education programme that supports children to understand their emotions and regulate behaviours through AI and other Assistive Technologies that can be incorporated into the curriculum.

Denise is a caring and focused individual who aims to achieve the best possible outcome for the children and families she works with.
